The raven is a sacred bird, the traveler between worlds, bringing messages from the spirits and bringing back the light when all hope seems lost.
It is said that the raven once had beautiful rainbow and a lovely song that could enchant anyone. When the world had grown cold and dark and all hope seemed lost. Even the mighty eagle failed to bring the light back.

Only the raven was able to make the long journey to the run to bring part of it back in her beak, though in the scorching light of the sun her wings charred black and her throat dried out taking her song. Though the magnificent bird was able to bring the light back, they were sad about their appearance and asked the creator "Why have you done this to me? Why would you take my beautiful feathers and song?"
The creator simply said in a soft tone. "To protect you. So no one will ever try to lock you in a cage."
